Extensive travel and exposure to many cultures, styles, and materials informs his work, bringing a fresh perspective to the spaces he designs. Often influenced by nature, Charles creates intuitive and organic environments, blending function and personality to provide his clients with stunningly unique signature interiors.

Charles began as a fashion buyer and merchandiser, and then worked in a large commercial design firm. These experiences in closely related style industries paved the way for his true passion: interior design. Since founding Dunlap Design Group in 2000, Charles has received multiple awards for design, including the 2008 Brian Killian Rising Star award from Detroit Home Magazine.

Charles has been featured in publications—including Detroit Home Magazine, Beautiful Interiors, Home & Design, and Traditional Home—and has served as a consultant for the popular ABC show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” He holds a BFA from Wayne State University.
